Welcome Friends

Dear Visitor,

Welcome to St. John Lutheran School, where the Good News of our Savior is preached and adhered to every day. St. Paul writes in Ephesians 2: “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this is not from yourselves. It is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast. We are God’s workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

“We are God’s workmanship through Christ to do good works” is a wonderful theme for Lutheran schools. At St. John we want each child to know he is loved by Jesus. We want each child to know his sins are forgiven through the death of Jesus Christ. We want each child to know he is special and that God created him that way. God wants us to worship him. He wants us to honor him by word and deed. We do this not out of fear, but out of love. We thank God by our actions, our appearance and our words. We are an elite school because Christ is the headmaster. Without his assistance and guidance we can do nothing.

The teachers of St. John are dedicated to serve. Our mission is to train children in the Word by integrating the faith in all we do. There will be times when we fail. There will be times when life doesn’t go as expected. Our students will face the harsh realities of life, some more than others. Some children come from ideal homes, others do not. The seed has been planted through baptism. Our job is to water it; to give it plenty of sunshine; to nurture it through compassion, encouragement and love. We want that seed to develop into a healthy plant that reaches heavenward.

St. John is accredited by the Michigan Association of Non-Public Schools and the National Lutheran School Association. Our curriculum is based on state’s standards. Our approach to education follows a traditional style, but we also incorporate small group projects that integrate various parts of the curriculum. We conduct Writing/Fine Art fairs, social studies and science fairs along with a Christmas program and music concerts.

St. John offers extra-curricular activities in athletics such as softball, soccer, basketball and track.

St. John Lutheran School is a mission of St. John Lutheran Church. The church has supported our school since 1893. Our school exists because our church wants every child to know that true salvation comes only through Jesus Christ, our Savior.
